Yujie Su, Youngsoon Cho
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2020, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2020.87032
Abstract: Color is both a general concept which interrelates with other concepts and a category which encompasses various subcategories. Chinese and English are of different language systems which result in the potential differences in language cognition. The present research aims to reveal the differences and similarities of the same concept in different cultures like English and Chinese by comparing color as a concept and a category between English and Chinese on the basis of the Historical Thesaurus of Oxford English Dictionary.
A Corpus-based Contrastive Analysis of First Personal Deixis
Yujie Su
Journal of Language Teaching and Research , 2010, DOI: 10.4304/jltr.1.3.231-234
Abstract: This paper centers on comparing the use of first personal deixis in Chinese English Learner Corpus (CLEC) and English-native Speaker Corpus such as FROWN and FLOB. It also makes a close investigation into the frequency difference of first nominative personal deixis, that is, “I” and “we”, and their practical use with modal verbs in the three corpora. Based on the results of the comparison and investigation of the uses of “I” and “we”, the writer tries to look into the reasons which cause the difference in order to enlighten English teaching in Chinese English learners’ classes.
Is “Absorb Knowledge” An Improper Collocation?
Yujie Su
English Language Teaching , 2010, DOI: 10.5539/elt.v3n1p122
Abstract: Collocation is practically very tough to Chinese English learners. The main reason lies in the fact that English and Chinese belong to two distinct language systems. And the deep reason is that learners tend to develop different metaphorical concept in accordance with distinct ways of thinking in Chinese. The paper, taking “absorb knowledge” as an example, intend to explore how to present the potential collocation patterns of “knowledge”in the learner’s dictionary for Chinese learners, based on a series of search results of BROWN and LOB as well as CLEC, by comparing the usual combinational patterns of “knowledge”of Chinese learners and English native speakers.
Greek Mythology in 18th-to-19th English Romantic Poetry  [PDF]

Open Access Library Journal (OALib Journal) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/oalib.1102773
Abstract:
In the 18th and 19th century of English literature, there were two generations of English Romantic poetry in Britain, who have produced great influences on the literature world. Those romantic poets were inspired more or less by the French Revolution, and advocated to the people to pursue beauty and inner freedom in nature or art. The most extraordinary features found in their poems are the abundant Greek and Roman mythological figures. But two generations of romantic poetry have shown different purposes in employing the Greek and Roman mythology, which needs further reading and exploration. The present study centers on the comparison of characters preference in poems between the two generations and shed light on the critical difference in their purposes and impacts.

Open Access Library Journal (OALib Journal) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/oalib.1103749
Abstract:
Textile production played a significant role in Ancient China and the related expressions entered into the scope of daily life. The present research intends to study the conceptual metaphors involving thread or string in Chinese and sheds some light on Chinese cognition of guān-xì (关系 relation) or lián-xì (联系 link). On the basis of data collected from Center for Chinese Linguistics (CCL) and Modern Chinese Dictionary, an investigation of experiential-based conceptual metaphors of thread is made, in terms of the prototypicality and image schema of LINK.
A Corpus-Based Analysis of Nominalization in English Abstracts of Sci-Tech Papers by Chinese Authors and Native English Authors  [PDF]
Yifan Su, Yujie Qiu
Open Access Library Journal (OALib Journal) , 2023, DOI: 10.4236/oalib.1110713
Abstract: Nominalization is a typical feature of abstracts of academic writing as it can maintain an objective tone and create textual cohesion. For Chinese authors aiming to publish their work in academic journals, understanding how to effectively use nominalization in abstracts is essential. This paper, based on the theoretical framework of Halliday’s Grammatical Metaphor, investigates the nominalization uses in English abstracts of sci-tech articles written by Chinese authors and by native English authors, hoping to provide insights for Chinese scholars to improve their ability to read and write abstracts in this field. After making a contrastive statistical analysis of the use and frequency of nominalization between the two groups, the results show that there exist significant differences both in the general use of lexical and clausal nominalizations. Therefore, we come to the conclusion that Chinese authors may not apply nominalizations as proficiently as native English authors do, which can hinder their ability to express their ideas clearly.

Abstract: Teacher-student relationship is the most basic interpersonal relationship in colleges. In the teaching process, creating a relaxed and enjoyable learning climate and cultivating harmonious teacher-student relationship can not only ease students’ emotional obstacles and learning anxiety, but also can promote students’ learning motivation and autonomous learning consciousness. In recent years, with the development of Pedagogy and Educational Psychology, the research on teacher-student relationship has greatly increased at home and abroad. Nevertheless, the research on how to establish, facilitate, and develop teacher-student relationship from the perspective of educational philosophy is little and not in-depth. The thesis adopted the qualitative research methods. The research samples are 86 non-English major sophomores from Taiyuan College of Modern Science and Technology. Qualitative analysis is mainly based on open questionnaires, diary, interview, and observation. The thesis is divided into five parts. The main frame is as follows: 1) The first part is literature review that stated the
Application of Glycation in Regulating the Heat-Induced Nanoparticles of Egg White Protein
Chenying Wang,Xidong Ren,Yanjun Yang,Yujie Su
- , 2018, DOI: 10.3390/nano8110943
Abstract: Due to the poor thermal stability of egg white protein (EWP), important challenges remain regarding preparation of nanoparticles for EWP above the denaturation temperature at neutral conditions. In this study, nanoparticles were fabricated from conjugates of EWP and isomalto-oligosaccharide (IMO) after heating at 90 °C for 30 min. Meanwhile, the effects of protein concentration, temperature, pH, ionic strength and degree of glycation (DG) on the formation of nanoparticles from IMO-EWP were investigated. To further reveal the formation mechanism of the nanoparticles, structures, thermal denaturation properties and surface properties were compared between EWP and IMO-EWP conjugates. Furthermore, the emulsifying activity index (EAI) and the emulsifying stability index (ESI) of nanoparticles were determined. The results indicated that glycation enhanced thermal stability and net surface charge of EWP due to changes in the EWP structure. The thermal aggregation of EWP was inhibited significantly by glycation, and enhanced with a higher degree of glycation. Meanwhile, the nanoparticles (<200 nm in size) were obtained at pH 3.0, 7.0 and 9.0 in the presence of NaCl. The increased thermal stability and surface net negative charge after glycation contributed to the inhibition. The EAI and ESI of nanoparticles were increased nearly 3-fold and 2-fold respectively, as compared to unheated EWP
